How do I enable push notifications?
Stay in the loop when teammates cheer you on, comment, or message you—push notifications keep Challenge Hound lively and timely. Here’s how to get them working in a minute or two.
1) Turn notifications on in the app
Open the Challenge Hound app in Android or iOS.
Go toAccount -> Profile
Enable the types you want:
- Activities (updates on your logged workouts/entries)
- Reactions (👍 🎉 etc. on your activities)
- Comments (replies and threads)
- Messages (direct messages and announcements)
Tip: If you don’t see a notifications toggle, update to the latest app version via the App Store/Google Play.
2) Allow notifications at the OS level
Your phone must also allow notifications from Challenge Hound.
iOS
- Settings → Notifications → Challenge Hound → toggle Allow Notifications on.
- Optional: choose Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners, Sounds, Badges.
Android
- Settings → Apps → Challenge Hound → Notifications → turn on.
- Optional: enable Allow sound, Show pop-ups, and any relevant notification categories.
3) Fine-tune Do Not Disturb / Focus
iOS Focus or Android Do Not Disturb can silence alerts.
Add Challenge Hound to allowed apps or disable DND when you want real-time pings.
Quick troubleshooting (🥇 60-second checklist)
- Open the app once: Opening the app after installing refreshes your device’s push token.
- Logged in? Make sure you’re signed in to the correct account.
Reactions/comments enabled? Double-check the toggles in Settings → Notifications.
System-level blocked? Verify OS notification permissions (steps above).
Battery settings:
- Android: turn off Battery optimization for Challenge Hound to prevent background throttling.
- iOS: ensure Low Power Mode isn’t permanently on.
- Silent switch / volume: On iPhone, the side switch mutes sounds; you’ll still see banners, but no sound.
- Network constraints: Background data must be allowed (Android: App info → Mobile data & Wi-Fi → Allow background data).
- Reinstall (last resort): Delete and reinstall the app, then log in—this refreshes the push token.
What you’ll get notifications for
- Reactions: When teammates or fellow participants react to your activities OR messages
- Comments & replies: New comments or replies on your activities or messages.
- Messages: Direct messages and important announcements.
- Activities: Updates relevant to your entries and progress.
Privacy & control
- You can toggle categories on/off anytime.
- Turning off a category in the app or at the OS level stops those alerts immediately.
